Improving the health of the St. Lucie River and the Indian River Lagoon through oyster reef restoration and seagrass restoration is an important endeavor! The FLOOR (Florida Oceanographic Oyster Restoration) program actively engages the public in restoring oyster reef habitat we offer monthly shell bagging events where volunteers can help make a difference. The FOSTER (Florida Oceanographic Seagrass Training Education Restoration) program actively engages the public in restoring seagrass habitat and we are looking for volunteers to help collect stranded, washed-up seagrass fragments that we can grow in our seagrass nurseries and to help make planting units for restoration.
