Support Us

Each year, we ask friends like you to make a donation to the Florida Oceanographic Society’s Annual Fund Campaign. Why? Because every dollar raised makes a significant difference each day - for our animal residents and for our community.

Making a donation to our Annual Fund Campaign will continue to enhance the Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center experience for nearly 55,000 visitors annually, care for the hundreds of animals on exhibit, and provide habitat maintenance and restoration for the wild animals that make the unspoiled natural area their home. The support we receive provides the very best in animal care/welfare, research, conservation initiatives, and educational programs.

Since 1964, Florida Oceanographic Society has been a unique and integral part of our community and the lives of thousands of families. For that we are honored and grateful. We have much more to accomplish. Celebrating and preserving Florida’s ecosystems is not only our mission but a daily priority, and we cannot do it without you!

Please make a generous donation to our Annual Fund Campaign. Your gift will help leave a legacy and inspire future generations to preserve our unique environment and the creatures that call it home.

Your support does make a real difference!

Ways to Make a Difference Today

Cash Donations

Cash is the most common and direct way to give. Personal checks payable to Florida Oceanographic Society are always accepted, and taxpayers who itemize deductions are able to secure a charitable tax deduction. Please contact us at 772-225-0505, ext. 108 if you are interested in making monthly or quarterly contributions.

Credit Card

You may use your credit card to make a gift by calling 772-225-0505, ext. 108, or use our online donation form. We gladly accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express.

Corporate Matching Gift Programs

Many corporations match employees’ charitable contributions through a formalized matching gifts program. Prospective donors are encouraged to contact your human resources department to see if the Florida Oceanographic Society would be a qualifying organization. If so, you can make your gift go even further through a corporate matching gift.

Gifts of appreciated securities such as stock, bonds and mutual funds provide distinct tax advantages. A donated stock that has risen in value and that you have held for more than one year, can have its fair market value, up to 30% of your adjusted gross income and owe no capital gains taxes from its transfer to Florida Oceanographic.

Real Estate

A donation of real property that is not subject to a mortgage and has appreciated in value, can be an attractive option. This type of gift offers to two potential benefits: first, you avoid paying capital gains; and second, in most cases, you receive a deduction for the full value of the gift.

Making a Difference in the Future...

Planned Gifts

Planned and deferred gifts (including bequests, charitable trusts and others) enable many donors to offer support to Florida Oceanographic Society while taking advantage of federal and state tax levels that may allow for reduction of income taxes, lower gift and estate taxes, and/or provide lifetime income. Donors are strongly encouraged to speak with their financial advisor when considering a planned gift. Common types of planned gifts include:

Gifts of Life Insurance

Cash value in current or paid up life insurance policies can provide benefit. Consider adding Florida Oceanographic as a beneficiary to a current life insurance policy. Even a small percentage can make a big difference.

Retirement Savings

Name the Florida Oceanographic Society as a beneficiary of a portion of your retirement funds.

A charitable gift to the Florida Oceanographic Society will provide you with the satisfaction of knowing your generosity will help foster new programs and sustain facilities, as well as contribute to educational and conservation efforts.
