Waterways Day

About the Event

Celebrate our waterways at the Coastal Center on Saturday, January 24th!

Bring the family out for this special day to learn about our coastal waters and be inspired to help protect them! Meet local wildlife, go on a nature walk, watch our animal ambassadors get fed, visit our exhibitor activity booths, get crafty or get your face painted, enter our raffle, and more. 

  • General: $20
  • Children (3-12): $10
  • Children ages 2 and under: FREE
  • Members: FREE

What to Expect

Spend the day connecting with nature and conservation through activities for all ages, including:

  • Meet local wildlife and animal ambassadors

  • Guided nature walks through coastal habitats

  • Animal feeding demonstrations and educational talks

  • Interactive exhibitor booths

  • Crafts, face painting, and family-friendly activities

  • Raffle prizes and more


Florida Oceanographic Society Activity Booths

  • Research: Seagrass touch tank and mangrove plant sales

  • Education: Learn about Florida’s coastal ecosystems through hands-on activities

  • Advocacy: Take the stormwater pledge and learn how everyday actions protect water quality

  • Crafts: Oyster decorating and DIY personal monofilament recyclers

  • Treasure Coast Wildlife Center: Get up close with local wildlife 

  • IFAS / Sea Grant: Enviroscape watershed model

  • One Lagoon: Selfie booth celebrating the Indian River Lagoon

  • Martin County Leave No Trace: Leave No Trace activity station

  • Harbor Branch: Marine science fun with necropsy plushies

  • Coastal Connections: Sea turtle-friendly lighting demo and activity wheel

  • River Kidz: Hands-on activity (details coming soon)

  • Ecological Associates Inc. (EAI): Sea turtle specimens and educational activities

  • Friends of the Everglades: Animals of the Everglades activities

  • Hobe Sound Nature Center: Live alligator ambassador and biofacts exploring gators vs. crocs

  • ORCA: Water quality testing activity
