Protect Florida’s Oculina Coral Reef

Florida’s Oculina Coral Reef is a globally rare deep-water ecosystem that supports over 2,000 species, including spawning grounds for grouper and snapper. Federal proposals—Coral Amendment 11 and Shrimp Amendment 12—would open parts of this protected reef to bottom trawling, a destructive fishing method that bulldozes the ocean floor and destroys corals that take centuries to grow.
