Wonder in the Waves Book Signing

About the Event

Jennifer Collins, author, is a retired physical therapist and college professor. Her debut novel, Comfort in the Wings, emerged from the author’s own devastating experiences with loss of immediate family members. Overcome with her own loss, she found herself in awe at the outpouring of stories from others who had lost loved ones. A drive to incorporate those emotions into fictional stories has become a compelling force for writing. Encouraged by readers’ response to Comfort in the Wings, she is excited to continue the story of Larissa and her loved ones with Wonders in the Waves.

Collins spends her time writing and running a family business alongside her eldest son. She does both from two residences - her long-time family homes in upstate New York and Hutchinson Island in Florida.

Synopsis of Wonders in the Waves

Resilience has brought Larissa Whitcomb a long way toward surviving recent losses of those closest to her. Yet, she yearns for more than survival. She is ready to reframe her grief and expend her energy in new directions. Encouraged by her family and friends, a trail of letters and old postcards lead her to a picturesque beach house along the Indian River Lagoon on Hutchinson Island, Florida. The healing power of being near water brings Larissa fulfillment and insight. Her walks beside the ocean and river, in wonderment of the messages and gifts that emerge from the water along the way, help her to process shifting emotions and gather the energy to continue the search for the son she reluctantly surrendered. Connections from the past offer hope for new relationships. Can the natural surroundings bring her the wisdom and insight to live life to the fullest, regardless of what she has lost and what she might find?

Readers are invited along for a journey of hopefulness after grief, and finding joy in everyday wonders.
