Sea Turtle Nest Excavation

About the Event

Sea turtle fans—don’t miss this!

Join us Friday, August 8th at 8:30 AM on Clifton S. Perry Beach with our partners from Ecological Associates, Inc. for a FREE sea turtle nest excavation!

You’ll get an up-close look at sea turtle conservation in action as a biologist from EAI carefully inventories a hatched loggerhead nest—counting eggs, checking hatching success, and possibly even releasing any remaining hatchlings (if present and conditions allow).

This excavation is on Clifton S. Perry Beach, but there are only a few parking spots, and the dune crossover isn’t directly across from the parking lot — BUT there are options:
-There's Clifton S. Perry Beach parking, like we said, but also...
-Santa Lucea Beach, which has more parking and a nice walk to the beach, but a longer walk (approx. 1/4 mile) to the excavation. There's also...
-An unofficial crossover south of the Clifton S. Perry Beach parking lot, but please keep in mind that there is no crosswalk here, like the one north of Clifton S. Perry Beach parking.

All ages welcome!
