Meet Linda Driscoll

Linda and her husband, Charlie, traded snowy New Hampshire winters for sunny Florida skies in 2014—and they haven’t looked back. After years of seasonal visits, they made the move permanent, escaping subzero temperatures and snowdrifts for a life filled with sunshine, ocean views, and year-round outdoor activities.

Linda’s passion for the ocean drew her to Florida Oceanographic Society, where she first volunteered in 2014 during the Annual Reef Count at Bathtub Beach. Since then, she’s worn many volunteer hats—from working at the Touch Tank to helping with seagrass surveys and matting. These days, you’ll find her at the Coastal Center on Wednesday mornings, cleaning seagrass nursery tanks and contributing to vital habitat restoration efforts. “I really enjoy volunteering at Florida Oceanographic, knowing I’m doing a small part to help the environment,” she says.

Originally born in Swindon, England, Linda grew up moving around with her family due to her father’s Air Force service. She eventually settled in New Hampshire, where she met Charlie, her husband of 36 years. They have two sons and a grandson who still live up north.

A University of New Hampshire graduate in Food Service Management, Linda found her true passion in hands-on kitchen work—spending 15 years as a baker before working as a cook at her alma mater. When she’s not volunteering, she keeps busy with pet-sitting, enjoying any activity that brings her close to the water. She swims, snorkels, kayaks, scuba dives, and races with her dragon boat team, the Hell Gate Sea Dragons. Her love of travel has taken her to Thailand, Ireland, and soon, the Caribbean.

Charlie stays active officiating baseball, basketball, and soccer—taking full advantage of Florida’s year-round sports scene. Together, Linda and Charlie embody the spirit of lifelong adventure, community involvement, and environmental stewardship.
