A food source for some marine animals, and a nursery for others, seagrass plays a critical role in maintaining a healthy coastal ecosystem. It prevents erosion by stabilizing sediments, provides a long-term store of carbon and improves water quality by absorbing nutrients. Our FOSTER program aims to train volunteers to assist with seagrass monitoring and restoration while educating the public on issues facing seagrass.
