Meet Delaney Hodder

Delaney Hodder was first exposed to Florida Oceanographic Society while attending summer camp at age 10. In 2022, she took part in the Florida Oceanographic Teen Ambassador Program, learning about the effects of climate change on our oceans and the role we play in advocating for change. After attending the program, she realized she wanted to help the organization in any way she could. So, when she was old enough, Delaney began volunteering as an Exhibit Guide with the Education Department. “I’m lucky enough to have some amazing parents who have supported me in everything I do,” she said.

As an Exhibit Guide, Delaney says she has met some extraordinary people, both guests and staff alike. “These are some of the nicest people I have ever met, and they have given me great advice for college and career options.”  Delaney says she loves teaching guests about the animals in our local environment because it gives her the opportunity to learn more herself.

Since April 2023, Delaney has donated nearly 50 volunteer hours.

Delaney will be a Junior at Martin County High School and plans to attend college to pursue a degree in Marine Science and Biology. She is also a varsity cheerleader. In her spare time, she loves snorkeling and going to the beach. She is a huge Disney fan and enjoys doing activities with her family.
